Company Directors
"I.T. is transforming the way people gain and use knowledge. People without access to I.T. skills and digital knowledge networks will be severely disadvantaged in the Information Society of the next Millennium. Public libraries can bridge the gap between 'information rich' and 'information poor' making I.T. skills and knowledge networks available to everyone. By bringing together digital, multimedia and printed resources, supported by skilled and friendly staff, in a welcoming environment which is conveniently located and hospitable to everyone, public libraries can make a massive contribution to community life and equality of individual opportunity. "
Bob McKee was invited to join the board of
Information for All because
of his local authority background, his membership of the Library and
Information Commission and his experience and
advocacy of providing I.T. services in public libraries.
Bob McKee is Assistant Chief Executive (formerly Director of Libraries and Arts) Solihull MBC. His earlier career included work in libraries, teaching and research and the I.T. industry. He is a member of the Library and Information Commission, the Advisory Council on Libraries, the British Library Advisory Council and library service advisor to the Association of Metropolitan Authorities.
