This report is the deliverable for workpackage
2 Identification for the BIBLINK project. It provides
a concrete recommendation for the unique identification of electronic
publications. Several identification schemes have been investigated
and evaluated. The following identifiers are recommended: ISSN,
ISBN, SICI, DOI and URN. The functional requirements for a unique
identifier are analysed and a list of requirements drawn up. A
template listing the aspects that should be analysed has been
drawn up to ensure that the identification schemes are analysed
in the same way. The identification schemes are evaluated against
the requirements.
