Work Package 2 Identification

The objective of this work package is to provide a concrete recommendation for the unique identification of electronic publications. The work will include a detailed overview of the ISBN and ISSN schemes and a review of the work being done within the Internet community on URNs. Other schemes currently in use will also be investigated including:

• SICI - Serial Item and Contribution Identifier
• PII - Publisher Item Identifier
• DOI - Digital Object Identifier
• CIS - Common Information System
